Operation & Maintenance

• Control thermostats and make sure they aren’t set too low during cooling season or turned on when they don’t have to be
• Consider acid treatment in recirculated water to control buildup
• Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC system

Equipment and Technology

• Use or convert to close-loop systems where water is re-circulated through the cooling system or used in other systems
• Fit cooling system with controls that shut the system off at night or during weekends

Occupant Behavior

• Educate tenants on smart thermostat control
