Maintain safe housekeeping practices (e.g., keep walkways clear, close cabinets when not in use, never block fire exits or fire equipment, clean-up spills and hazards immediately etc.)
Store cleaning supplies safely (e.g. away from furnace or other mechanicals, tightly closed and labeled, out of reach, etc.)
Know the locations of fire extinguishers and emergency utility shutoffs
Become familiar with emergency processes and the property diagram of emergency exits (should be included)
Always close the doors all the way and use deadbolts
Always look through the peephole before answering your door
Never let a stranger into the building
Cancel all deliveries when you are going to be away
Use timers to turn lights on and off when you are not at home
Leave the radio on when you are gone for an extended period
