Cordell Davenport – The epitome of the philosophy, “When you change everything else will change.” The lessons learned from his own personal self-improvement journey are formed succinctly to make those that listen and read that “it is possible.” When you work hard on your job you will make a living, but if you work harder on yourself you will make a fortune!
DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT SUCCESS UNTIL YOU BECOME A STUDENT OF SELF IMPROVEMENT.
Meditate on this:
Success is to know what you want and get it.
Success leaves clues.
Success is predictable, it is not an accident.
The fastest way to success is to find people who are getting the results you want and study them. Copy and paste what worked for them in their lives into your life. If you do what other successful people do over and over again, you will get what they get. You should learn from the experts, read their books, go to their seminars. As they you get on the journey of learning and growing, you need to be on the lookout for: ideas, information and lessons. For you to become someone you never been before, you will have to do what you have never done before. Your beliefs don’t make you a better person your behavior does.
What you are reading is a result from my own personal journey of self-improvement. Thanks to a friend who gave me 40 self-help tapes in 2006, I was handed entry into a world of wisdom for winners. I’m delighted to share the best of that wisdom with you and to encourage you to find your own wisdom.
The effects have been very positive for me. When I changed, everything else changed. Here, you’ll get the information and inspiration you need to live a self-improvement lifestyle that always prepares you for better life.
Throughout, I’ll be there for you like a great coach. I promise to inspire you by:
- Kicking you in the butt (discipline you).
- Throwing cold water on your face (wake you up).
- Being a soft pillow (comfort you).
- Grabbing you by the ear (guide you).
- Snatching the covers off you (expose you to change).
To develop a quality that you lack, that you wish to have, apply the “Be, Do and Have” principle. Which goes, to be the person you want to be, you will have to do what others do that are successful and then you will have what they have. So how can you be like someone you admire? Well copy their actions, hobbies, qualities, belong to their same associations, read the books they read....Basically “copy and paste” them into your life.
Imagine falling asleep for five years and waking up to find that everything is perfect. What do you see? Describe it in ideal, present tense words, as if it were already true.
- I am...
- I do...
- I have…
There are specific reasons for success and specific reasons for failure. The solution? Do what other successful people do, over and over, until you get the same results. The method? Learn and do, learn and do, over and over until you master success qualities and behaviors. I can't repeat it enough, copy and paste what other successful people do!
If you feel a certain way, you will act in that way in which you feel. So if you want something, or different in your life, “fake it until you make it.” You can fake yourself out by using reaffirming positive “self-talk.” Self-talk is very powerful, it will increase confidence and build courage and confidence. Act as if you have what you desire, walk and talk as if you have what you want. It has to be real in your mind first before anything will happen. Without a winning mindset, you become a victim of yourself. Your limited thinking leads to limited action, no action, or unfocused action.
With a winning mindset, you will always win. Even if you don’t win what you thought you were after, you win through growing and learning. When obstacles occur, your mindset will be, “Every obstacle presents an opportunity for improvement.” Regardless of the current situation, you will have faith that things will work out. When life is hard on you, you will tell yourself, “Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”
When outside circumstances influence your life, you will recognize that “You can’t control the wind, but you can always adjust your sail.” Meaning, you can’t affect what takes place outside of your control, but you can always, always control how you respond. A long time ago I heard that “the best way to prepare for the future is to create it.” When I have applied this saying and been prepared, it has always worked for me.
Because your mindset is key to preparing your future, this book focuses on how you can create and maintain a winning mindset. Thus, you’ll get many stories of people whose powerful mindsets helped them overcome what could have been crippling obstacles. Let them inspire you, and you will undoubtedly strengthen your own vision of what’s possible.
